aBeauté

An online database of accessible beauty products for people with disabilities, empowering them to achieve dignity and confidence in their self-care.
aBeauté is an online database that helps people with visual, sensory, and physical disabilities find beauty products designed for their functional needs. **Solution:** A subscription based website for accessible beauty products, where users can filter products by accessibility features (e.g. easy-open packaging, tactile markers) and categories (e.g. makeup, skincare, haircare). During the past month, we have built a wireframe and low-fidelity prototype for the website encompassing the above features. We plan to further validate our ideas and potentially create a high fidelity model. **Key Features for MVP:** 1. **Filter System: ** - Search by disability type (e.g. visual, motor), product category, and accessibility features, such as tactile indicators or easy to read products. - Customised and advanced filter options to reduce user search times for relevant products e.g. Only showing products for people with visual impairments. 2. **Product Database:** - Curated product lists with accessibility focused descriptions and reviews from real users. - Accessibility icons or tags, markers to better identify specific accommodation needs e.g. “Sensory-friendly” badges, “mobility-guidance” makeup application tools. 3. **Occupational Therapy Resources:** - Expert recommendations from occupational therapists tailored to their needs. Focusing on providing research validating the accessibility products that actually work for users, saving them time on trial and error with new products. 4. **Community Feedback, Product Review Sections and User Discussion Board:** - Read real user reviews with similar experiences for practical tips and honest feedback Our solution works to reduce trial and error, increase confidence, and save time and financial resources. aBeauté is built on community - users and OTs will share discussions and anecdotes about products and tips and tricks to empower all makeup users with disabilities globally. **Subsequently, we were also a finalist in the Startmate Fellowship - building aBeauté in two weeks to achieve the top 6 out of 60 groups from all over Australia. **
