Cortex Technologies IP Pty. Ltd.

Offers a non-invasive, user-friendly cerebral blood flow monitoring and neurofeedback mechanism for home use, aiding Australians affected by brain disorders.
Cortex won $55000 pre-seed funds with top place in Australia's national bionics competition which we have used to fund the MVP build of our BCI prototype hardware. Our headset makes control of mobility tools, neurogaming & elite brain performance improvement available in the home. Our novel optical neurosensors can not only be used to look inside the brain but can also look inside other parts of the body and be used to control bionic limbs. Unmet Medical Need: The primary need revolves around providing a non-invasive, real-time cerebral blood flow monitoring and neurofeedback mechanism that is accessible and user-friendly for consumers, not just in a clinical setting but also in daily environments like home and school. Feedback from clinicians emphasizes a glaring necessity for non-invasive cerebral monitoring, especially amidst rising neurodegenerative conditions and brain injuries.
For the almost 1 in 5 Australians affected by brain disorders such as acquired brain injury, learning disabilities, stroke, ADHD and autism, their brain disorder is a lifelong affliction with limited therapeutic interventions available and a significant social and economic cost to the affected individuals and their family members. Cortex have developed a novel, patentable, high quality neurosensor and BCI headset that measures brain activity in a similar fashion to the operation of an fMRI using near infrared light in place of powerful electromagnets.
