The Problem

People with disabilities face many different challenges when it comes to accessing sexual wellness. While some of these challenges center on finding partners, other problems are more societal in nature like harmful stereotypes and myths, lack of privacy, the fact that sexual issues tend to be unspoken about, and incomplete sexual education especially around how one’s disabilities impact sexual health and wellness. Other impediments are more technical in nature, such as the vast majority of sexual wellness products not being well designed to include the needs of people with disabilities.

The Solution

I am working to launch my startup to specifically focus on the unmet needs disabled people have when it comes to sexual wellness. Specifically, my business will design new sexual wellness products using universal design principles so that they are useful to the general public while also being accessible to people with all kinds of disabilities. My startup will also sell a curated selection of already existing products that will be specifically useful to people with disabilities. Erge’s website will also include disability-specific sex ed resources. Our tagline is, “Every Body Deserves Sexual Wellness”.
