MindSigns

Empowers the deaf community by providing culturally tailored, co-designed digital tools to address mental health challenges inclusively and accessibly.
Our proposed solution focuses on developing culturally and linguistically tailored digital mental health interventions to meet the unique needs of persons with deafness. Using co-design methods, we are working closely with deaf individuals, sign language interpreters, and mental health professionals to create accessible resources. These include electronic flyers and video content on key topics such as recognizing mental health symptoms, self-care tips, and strategies for emotional well-being. A central element of this solution is the creation of a **digital mental health sign language bank**, which addresses the limited understanding of mental health-related terminologies within deaf communities. This tool empowers deaf individuals to express their emotions and feelings more accurately by providing clear, standardised sign language for essential mental health concepts. By bridging critical communication gaps and improving mental health literacy, our solution ensures accessibility, relevance, and meaningful support for the deaf community.
