An app designed to assist neurodivergent individuals with meal planning, preparation and shopping, enhancing their dietary independence.
A lot of people who have Adhd, or are Autistic particularly struggle with remembering meals, what they like, what to buy at the shops, or not even realise when they're hungry. They may skip meals, rely on someone else to help them remember what they like eating, or simply resort to eating the same thing as that's only what they remember. This leaves a lot of people with disability having inadequate diets, disordered eating and even the ADHD Tax of letting your food go to waste because you forgot you had it or what you got it for. This removes a lot of control and independence surrounding meal times for neurodivergent folk, and may rely heavily on fast foods, repeatedly eat the same meal or skipping meals entirely to avoid this problem.
My solution is to build an app that you can organise a list of your own meals, sort of like a personal menu, with both food at home or takeaway meals. In the simplest way of use you could tag meals as Snacks, Lunch, Dinner or how long it might take to prepare that meal, to something with more customisation such as adding in ingredients you would use for that meal so when you go shopping you know what it is you need to buy. You could also use the app to plan ahead dishes you might like to have, and or add in how to make that meal. This would allow a large variety of people to use the app in a way that's best suited to them whether its more customised, or a simple reminder of what your favourite meals are. A tablet version to be used in a kitchen would be best for at home and cooking, and a phone version would be most helpful for out and about and at the shops.
