Seymour Accessibility LLC

Seymour delivers real-time computer generated captions to mobile devices at live events.
We are addressing the challenge of creating real-time captions for live events, making them inclusive for everyone, especially the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The current challenge faced by Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals attending live events--such as conferences, graduations, funerals and weddings--lies in the lack of accessibility to spoken content. If there is no interpreter or caption display, these individuals often experience exclusion, hindering their ability to fully understand and engage with the event. Sadly, many people decline to attend events which they know will not be accessible to them. Audio technicians who manage live audio at events do not have an off-the-shelf way to use speech-to-text technology that focuses exclusively on closed captions for live events.
My solution is to build an application that will allow (1) sound technicians to convert live audio into captions and (2) Deaf attendees to view captions on their mobile devices. Audio technicians will use the application to (1) create events, (2)create and share QR codes/links for events, (3) send an audio feed from their mixing board through the application to the cloud for speech-to-text conversion, (4) pause and stop the speech-to-text transmission. Deaf attendees will (1) attend an event, (2) scan a QR code or use a link sent from the event organizer after registration for event, and (3) view live captions on their mobile device in landscape mode, and (4) provide feedback on captions.
