Matthew Doyle is a descendant of the Muruwari people from northwest New South Wales and was born and raised in Sydney. A dancer, musician, songman, didgeridoo player, cultural consultant, and educator, Matthew has more than 35 years’ experience in the performing arts across diverse genres.
He has performed around the world as both a soloist and collaborator, including at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, the Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and the ABC Millennium Broadcast atop the Sydney Opera House. His performances have graced major international stages, from the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris to World Expo Japan and the Venice Biennale.
Matthew has collaborated with leading artists and organisations including Bangarra Dance Theatre, Taikoz, James Morrison, Riley Lee, and the Sydney and Queensland Symphony Orchestras. He currently works as Wuruniri alongside Tim Bishop, Brock Tutt, and Nathan Leslie, and continues to share his culture through education, performance, and his role on the City of Sydney’s Indigenous Advisory Panel.
